Description

The players compete to be the best at building up the colony of Puerto Rico, by making best use of the arriving colonists and available crops to gain victory points and money to develop the colony with a view to further VPs.

Comments

This is, according to many people, the greatest game ever, but while it is undoubtedly very good (say 8/10), there are a number of games I'd prefer to play. Much of the body of opinion is based on there being multiple ways to win with no strategy guaranteed to work every time, which is all well and good, if you're going to play it to the exclusion of every thing else, but I like a variety of games and don't have enough gaming time to exhaust the possibilities in many other of them, so perhaps I'll never see this point of view.
